Golfmark

Moseley Golf Club has been awarded Golfmark which is a national scheme that identifies and recognises junior and beginner friendly golf facilities

The three key areas within the golf club which have been assessed are:

Coaching & Playing
Club Environment (including sports equity & ethics)
Child Protection & Duty of Care

Key Statistics from the GolfMark survey to accredited golf clubs:

100% of clubs felt that the GolfMark process had been beneficial.
52% of clubs had experienced an increase in membership.
71% of clubs had accessed funding/grants since achieving the award.
54% of clubs said that the award had an impact upon recruiting more volunteers.
50% clubs had experienced increased awareness/recognition of their facility in the local community.

ClubMark was introduced in 2002 by Sport England to:
Ensure that accrediting partners apply core common criteria to ensure that consistent good practice and minimum operating standards are delivered through all club development and accreditation schemes.
To empower parent(s)/carer(s) when choosing a club for their children.
To ensure that ClubMark accredited clubs are recognised through a common approach to branding.
To provide a focus around which all organisations involved in sport can come together to support good practice in sports clubs working with children and young people.

Sport England ClubMark
Now that we have been awarded GolfMark, we are also recognised by Sport England as a ClubMark facility. This is a cross-sport accreditation for sports clubs with junior sections. According to research conducted by the Northwest Regional Development Agency in 2004, three fifths of young people belong to a sports club outside school and it is therefore important that these sports clubs serve young people well.

The Benefits of ClubMark

Clubs awarded ClubMark have seen many tangible benefits, such as:
Club development: The foundation for any club is its youth structure. By encouraging and attracting young members, it is building a strong future.
Increased membership: Addressing issues like equity and child protection gives parents confidence when choosing a club for their children.
Developing coaches and volunteers: As part of ClubMark, clubs receive help in developing the skills of those involved in their organisation. We have been awarded £800 for coaching juniors and beginners in 2009.
Raised profile: Now that ClubMark has been accredited, Moseley Golf Club will be listed on a national database and in other directories, to help us to attract new members and grow
