Since its establishment in 1892, Moseley Golf Club has held a distinguished place in Birmingham’s golfing heritage.
Originally located on farmland near Billesley Lane, the club moved in 1909 to its current site, where its scenic parkland course was laid out by the legendary Harry Colt. Today, our course retains much of Colt’s original design, offering a classic golfing experience with challenging fairways and fast, undulating greens that have been enjoyed by generations of golfers.
A Founding Legacy: The Tolkien Connection
Among our founding members was none other than a Tolkien—William Tolkien, a relative of the renowned author J.R.R. Tolkien, played a key role in establishing Moseley Golf Club. While the exact details of William’s influence remain a part of our cherished history, the Tolkien family’s early connection to the club adds a fascinating cultural link that enriches our heritage.
